(I-AutoNewsWire.com, October 17, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- Google has announced a release of a new YouTube app for iPhones.
The application will feature advertising, but will not have pre-loaded into Apple’s phones. The app is available at the Apple’s App Store, Google said in a blog yesterday.
YouTube’s business model is becoming ever more attached to the web-connected smartphone, as over one billion YouTube videos are viewed daily. Earlier in the year, YouTube said it was streaming 4 billion videos each day.
The new app will feature additional videos and features for finding said media.
Unlike the previous YouTube iPhone applications, this version features Google advertising. The bulk of Google’s revenue is generated through ads, and YouTube already offers ads on its mobile website on the App for android and smartphones.
The recent status of Apple and Google’s relationship is best stated as strained. A shift from personal computers to the growingly popular web-connected mobile phones has increased the competition between both companies. Apple said that it would dump Google’s mapping earlier in the year. Their own foray into the project has proved somewhat bumpy.
The pre-installed YouTube app was not as full-featured as YouTube’s own website, but it still garnered some success. YouTube was the third most viewed iPhone app said data from a Nielsen measurement.
Google is said to be working toward a YouTube specifically for iPads. That application should be out in the next month, according to Google.
