(I-AutoNewsWire.com, May 16, 2013 ) Alpine, Utah -- Out of the many activities one must partake in throughout the week, there are some that may in fact drive one's neighbors crazy. Research has found such activities include pretty much any before 9:30 am on a Sunday.
Mowing the lawn, trimming the garden, or allowing children to play outside early in the morning on Sunday appears to be the center of considerable ire for many neighbors, according to the study.
The noise caused by a lawnmower engine and blades has been identified before as one of the more annoying activities one can partake in during the summer and on the weekends; and there is even the terminology of “mower-rage” that comes with the effect of the anger caused.
The survey was commissioned by B&Q, and showed that just over 50% of individuals are driven to near-insanity if their neighbors begin their lawn mowing before 9:39 am on Sundays. It also notes that some people equate being a quiet neighbor with being a good neighbor.
Meanwhile, 4% of people want peace and quiet to be observed before noon on the weekends. This includes children's laughter, which one would think would bring smiles to a persons face. Instead, it apparently bring a fair amount of discontent, according to the research numbers.
A lot of this phenomenon likely has something to do with the fact that work weeks are wholly unpleasant, starting too early and ending too late for many individuals. Thus, weekends are supposed to serve as a respite from the meaningless day-to-day routine many find themselves in. Thus, when a disturbance in the weekend occurs, many find themselves filled with displaced rage.
Kevin Walker, outdoor power buyer at B&Q, said: "Noisy inconveniences early in the morning can result in some serious neighborly grudges.”
"Many of us like to get our garden chores out of the way, so we can relax and enjoy our outdoor space."
