(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 15, 2011 ) Los Angeles, CA – Mobile auto body shops Los Angeles owner, Joaquin Hernandez, recently spoke to some residents in Redondo Beach who were interested in knowing if bigger vehicles were safer for riders in the event of an accident.
Joaquin Hernandez, owner of Collision on Wheels Mobile Auto Body Shop in Los Angeles recently had lunch with a group of Redondo Beach Residents where the topic of conversation was about rear-end crash safety. “Rear-end crashes are very common,” said Hernandez. “Though fatalities are rare, whiplash injuries are a major problem that cost cost insurance companies millions in claims each year.”
Hernandez learned that many people feel safer in a bigger vehicle because they think there is less chance of severe injury in the event of an accident. Hernandez explained, “In the event of a rear end crash, head restraints are important for proper head and neck support. Studies have shown that many larger vehicles, like SUVs, that were analyzed by an insurance industry group did not have proper seat back and head restraint combinations. Passengers in these vehicles are at a greater risk of suffering a whiplash injury.”
The auto industry has come a long way in providing crash safe features in cars; however, they still have work to do on protection for rear-end crashes. Joaquin said, “Back seat passengers have little or no protection from whiplash injuries. Some vehicles have built-in head restraints that cannot be adjusted; they’re just bumps on top of the seat back.”
Like crash safety technology, auto body shops have also improved their methods to provide a safer atmosphere for their technicians and the environment. Collision on Wheels mobile auto body shops in Los Angeles only uses PPG Envirobase products for a healthier work place and to reduce the VOCs released into the atmosphere. “We take pride in staying ahead of the compliant curve,” said Hernandez.
Founded in 1987 by Louis Mancina and John Maio of Warren, Michigan, the company has awarded over 45 franchises in major metro markets since franchising began in January 2007. Collision on Wheels services a niche market of consumers who donÂ’t have time to take their vehicle to a body shop for minor scratch and dent repairs.
